This item is handmade in England by our bookbinding colleague, from paper supplied by Khadi Papers of India. They make 100% cotton, all-rag, tub sized, acid free, handmade paper suitable for a wide variety of artist's purposes such as sketching ~ painting ~ pastels and print. We call this style an Edison Book.

The booklet has deckle and torn edges, and is sewn with linen threads onto leather straps. It is bound between thick-pasted boards in a style which provides easy "open-flat" working in a similar way to Coptic binding, where the main feature is the open-back. It is a very practical binding, although unusual to those who are used to modern case-binding or paperbacks. It has 20 leaves which makes 40 sides, or pages if numbered as in a book, suitable for work.
